About the work

En Plein Air Abstraction is a suite of videos related to Satterwhite's series En Plein Air: Music of Objective Romance. The videos are a simplified and more ambient execution of the themes and narratives that are interrogated in the larger project. En Plein Air: Music of Objective Romance is a concept album reversely scored by 9 videos that are themed by blockbuster movie tropes, disaster films, erasure, queer eroticism, and other hero/anti hero genres. The suite of videos for Daaata Editions feature futuristic floating mechanics gliding over global disaster zones. The pairing of imagery gives a hint of science fiction imperialism, that is further explored in the series.
