Jeanne Briand is born in 1990 in France. Lives and work in Paris, France.

Jeanne Briand, is a visual artist graduated from the Beaux Arts of Paris, she became famous for her work with blown glass uterus, combining craftsmanship and genetic technology.

Art Prep at the Atelier de Sèvres

Jeanne returned to the Atelier de Sèvres in Art Prep, where her practice first turned towards photography, before passing the entrance exam for Beaux Arts in Paris, from which she graduated in 2015. In parallel with her artistic training, she began working with a master glassmaker. Thus, associating this material with her fascination with the questions of manipulation and genetics, she begins to develop her project of a blown glass uterus.

Designed from laboratory tubes, she created in 2010 a series of sculptures called Random Control, featuring glass uteri. Since then, the artist blows his own pieces under the direction of a master glassmaker Nantes.

Dreams of anticipation and diversions

In 2014, Jeanne went to study at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, "a very different atmosphere of French schools, where mix and match students from a wide variety of artistic backgrounds," she explains. In the same year, she started creating blown glass sculptures depicting gametes "cyborgs". Weaving links between visual and sound material, its parts are connected by plugs and USB ports producing sounds.

The issues of gender, genetic identity and DNA manipulation thus remain at the center of his artistic creation. A fundamental theme "that echoes my own origins" confesses Jeanne, explaining to be inspired by the work of Aldous Huxley, The Brave New World.

For some time now, the young visual artist has been thinking about metamorphosis, misappropriation and manipulation, within the culture of Custom a practice she sees as a "genetic modification" through a work of creations designed to from handlebars of motorcycles and bicycles, embodying a series of chromosomes.
